Tell me something about yourself.
My full name is Karla Erika Hortaleza Sibal. My classmates call me Karla. Whilst people from the Gaming and Cosplay Industry call me Erika. And very few chosen people call me Eka. I am 18 years old and I'm currently an Architecture student in the University of Santo Tomas. And I'm very weird girl.
the japanese enthusiast
I am into cosplay, wherein I dress up as anime and game characters and join conventions. My iPod contains 90% japanese music: a mixture of JPop, JRock and soundtracks from the animes and games that I love. I can speak and understand the japanese language, although not fluently. Some people find my enthusiasm for the japanese culture odd, and is even frowned upon by many of my peers. But after all these years, I've learned to just ignore the negative comments and focus on the positive ones.
the gamer
I play all kinds of games on different sorts of platforms. Probably one of the reasons why I'm close to my guy friends is because I can relate to their addictions. Amongst all genres, my favorite has to be Role-Playing games, or specifically MMORPG because it combines two of my favorite past-times: gaming and chatting. Besides, it's more fun when you have some real people to play with. I own a pink PSP slim, so if you want a short game of Tekken, I'm always ready. Just don't challenge me in DOTA. Haha!
the artist
One of my greatest passions is Art. I love drawing, photography, rendering, painting, sculpting, you name it. I love participating in art contests, both digital and traditional. However, if ever asked to choose between the two, I'd choose traditional art. This is probably why I chose to study Architecture. But, after three years in my course, I've realized that this is not my calling. Few months from now, I'll be transferring to DLS-CSB and take up AB Animation. I dream to become a game artist: fusing my love for Games and Art. I also want to become an animator, but not as much as I want to become a game artist.
the writer
I love books. A lot. I love reading and collecting them. I read almost all genres except bibliographies. I have this thing with Authors and their books. When I buy one book, I make it a point that I buy all of that author's works. And I also have this little lust on First Editions, which is pointless, but I just think being a first edition makes a book extra special. My passion for reading helped me develop my writing abilities. I used to be part of our school paper back in highschool, both as an artist and as a feature writer. Until now, I still write but only as a hobby. I write fanfictions and original stories, mostly fantasy and romance genres. And one of my crazy dreams is to be able to publish my own book before I die. Which will probably never happen but, a girl can dream, can't she? Besides, who knows, right?
the athlete
Ex-athlete, to be more specific. I love sports. I love watching them and I love playing them. My favorite is football, also known as soccer. This is why I called myself an ex-athlete. I used to be a member of UST-CA's football varsity team, but certain conflicts with my schedule forced me to quit. I shed tears that day you know. I also play badminton and volleyball and some other weird ones like Frisbee. I am also a huge fan of the MotoGP, and a fangirl of Valentino Rossi. We even have a bigbike here designed after his Valencia bike, and we even bought a Valencia collector's helmet. Haha! We spent a lot of money on those things, but I guess every cent paid off since that bike never fails to bring home a trophy!
the animal lover
I love animals. But, I'm not vegetarian, since most people connect those two. We have two dogs, a golden retriever named Rossi (named after Valentino Rossi) and a boxer named Milo. There used to be another dog, a miniature pinscher named Bingo, but he passed away years ago. We also have a cockatiel and two syrian hamsters.
the mallrat
I love hanging out at the mall. And I absolutely love shopping. This is probably the only girly-girl side of my whole persona. I love the mall because everything's in it: movies, games, food, clothes, and people. Even though I spend a lot, I do know my limitations. I love to shop but I am not a shopaholic.
the org girl
I love joining groups and organizations. I am currently the Unit President of Scarlet, a Filipino-Chinese organization, in our college. I am also a member of UAPSA (United Architects of the Philippines Students Auxillary), Arkitrato and Tomasinotaku. My other groups are that of cosplay and gaming organizations and are too many to mention so let's not enumerate them anymore.
